Stayed at the Grand Hyatt Vail and had an outstanding experience from start to finish. The property is beautiful and feels very well maintained, with a warm, mountain-luxury vibe that fits Vail perfectly.
One of the biggest highlights was the sushi restaurant, Makoto — absolutely unreal quality. Easily some of the best sushi I’ve had at a hotel restaurant, and it alone is worth the visit.
The hotel’s location is also incredible — it sits right on top of a walking trail along the river, with stunning views right on the property. It’s perfect for peaceful walks, morning coffee strolls, or just taking in the scenery.
The pool area was another standout: relaxing, scenic, and a great place to unwind after a day in the mountains. Breakfast each morning was also excellent with plenty of options and solid quality across the board.
Rooms were spacious and very comfortable, and the bathrooms were a real highlight — modern, clean, and stocked with Balmain products that made the stay feel extra high-end.
The hotel check in could’ve gone smoother is the only recommendation I’d have for the hotel.
Also want to give a special shoutout to Kym from Australia, who was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful throughout the stay. That level of hospitality really makes a difference.
Overall, a fantastic stay and I’d absolutely come back again.
From check-in to valet to the caretakers of the room, the shuttle drivers. everything was just amazing. Everybody is so kind and happy and seem to really enjoy their jobs, not to mention the venue. Oh my goodness! It's beautiful!. We had the best time!
Beautiful hotel, gorgeous setting on nice plot of land next to the river and mountain. Easy access to Vail Village via the hotel shuttle. Maybe because we are here in summer, activities that are planned for kids are not going according to the hotel’s schedule. The video game recreation area has ONE working game system, the other two have been unoperational since our arrival. Movies for families have not been starting as planned and we’ve had to hunt down staff to start the movie. Tip: Bring your own snacks, none provided and none for purchase. The Smores event went fairly well but even that wasn’t hiccup free. Hotel could use some TLC in certain areas, but overall it’s not too shabby. The summer rate with taxes came out to around $2,600 for 4 nights- mindful it was the week ahead of July 4th. Resort has a lot of potential and it’s still worth a visit. Just keep expectations that summer hosted hotel events may not match the enthusiasm as winter months. I’d still recommend a visit! Some of the staff of truly delightful! Janne with kids activities is great, lovely lady. Also a lovely lady in lobby who helps guest, she’s always in the main area helping! Also beware, not nearly enough pool chairs for accommodation of guests. Thankfully we are ok sitting on the ground bc that’s legit all that’s available- was able to find a 2x2 patch of grass and dirt to sit while kids swam. Would have used a towel but they ran out of pool towels too!
This was my first time staying at this hotel since it was the independent Vail Cascade Resort and Spa, and unfortunately rotating corporate takeovers haven’t been kind to this place. Our first impression was the chaotic and expensive valet process, the guy who seemed to be in charge was rude, unhelpful, and very disorganized. It took us nearly an hour to get our bags after valet wouldn’t let us simply carry our own stuff to our room. In the rooms, the thermostats reset multiple times throughout the day and the temperature was either too hot or too cold our whole stay. There is sketchy electrical wiring throughout the room as other guests have noted. Our humidifier was moldy and dirty. The doors are way too big and we were unable to close the bathroom door without standing over the toilet. Downstairs, the staff was mostly disengaged and checked out. There were dogs without leashes running around the lobby and pool area. The pool area is very undersized for a hotel this large. Chair 20 was closed (low snow year to be fair) but the hotel is still advertising as ski in/ski out. Everything from food to drinks to snacks were overpriced and low quality. Overall very disappointed with our stay, we expected to get nickled and dimed at a “luxury” resort but expected a small amount of luxury in return.
The hotel is beautiful. It was sunny, and hanging out by the pool and jacuzzi was really nice. The room was very warm even after adjusting the AC, and the AC itself was quite noisy, so I didn’t sleep well. Unfortunately, room service ends at 9pm. The à la carte breakfast was good.
