Grand Hyatt Vail stands in Cascade Village, at the base of Vail Mountain on the banks of Gore Creek. Hyatt describes it as its second Grand Hyatt in Colorado and the first in a US mountain resort. The hotel has 285 rooms, plus 84 rental residences.
It opened in July 2019 to designs by the firm LEO A DALY.
Cascade Village sits in the Vail Valley, away from the pedestrian core of Vail Village. The hotel is ski-in/ski-out and has its own lift, Chair 20, which starts at the foot of the mountain.
Gore Creek runs along the property, and the spa lounge, the pool and the outdoor fire pits all face it.
The concept
The building has had three names in about a decade. It began as the Vail Cascade Resort & Spa, was rebuilt and reopened in 2017 as the independent Hotel Talisa, then passed to Hyatt, which finished a further renovation in 2018 and renamed it Grand Hyatt Vail in 2019.
The 84 homes and condominiums of Vail Residences at Cascade Village are rented out and managed by Hyatt. Indoor and outdoor event space totals more than 30,000 square feet.
The spa has ten treatment rooms with nature-inspired therapies, a full-service salon and a retail boutique. It opens onto a creekside infinity pool, hot tubs and fire pits. The Aria Club, a 58,000-square-foot fitness facility that Hyatt calls the largest in Vail, is run separately from the hotel.
Dining & wellness
Gessner is the main restaurant, open for all three meals, with a menu drawn from the mountain cooking of the Colorado Rockies and a wine program Hyatt calls award-winning. Fireside Lounge looks onto Gore Creek and serves small plates, soups, burgers, flatbreads, hot chocolate and cocktails. The Market sells grab-and-go food.
