Novotel Leicester

Accor opened Novotel Leicester in January 2020, a purpose-built 154-room hotel at Great Central Square — the gateway between Leicester's city centre and its regenerating Waterside district. It arrived alongside a sister Adagio aparthotel as part of a £60 million mixed-use scheme.

The place

Novotel Leicester sits at Great Central Square, the junction linking Leicester's traditional city centre to the Waterside district, a former industrial and rail corridor undergoing large-scale regeneration. Leicester Tigers' stadium, King Power Stadium, the National Space Centre and The Curve Theatre are all within reach, positioning the hotel for both business and event-driven leisure demand rather than passing tourist trade.

The concept

Built from the ground up rather than converted, the 10-storey hotel opened in January 2020 as one half of a dual-brand scheme developed by Charles Street Buildings Group (a £60 million project including a 98-apartment Adagio aparthotel next door). Interiors by Koncept ID lean into a deliberately layered look for a Novotel — marble columns, imported American rugs, brass door furniture, a bronze reception desk and a custom spiral staircase — pitched above the brand's usual midscale register while still targeting Accor's core business and conference clientele. The room mix includes 38 executive suites, 9 junior suites and a single penthouse presidential suite.

Dining & wellness

The ground floor houses Nine B, the hotel's restaurant and bar serving international dishes, alongside a gym. Five daylit meeting rooms, including the 200-capacity Westmoreland Suite, with 82-inch interactive screens make the hotel a conference-oriented property; no spa or pool is advertised.
