The Grand Hotel Leicester has reopened as the eighth property in The Unlimited Collection, Ascott's portfolio of independent-minded heritage hotels. Behind its restored 1898 Art Deco façade, 104 rooms and a landmark ballroom give Leicester a boutique address built around the city's own history rather than an imported concept.

The place
On Granby Street in central Leicester, steps from the railway station and the Phoenix arts centre, inside a Grade II-listed building dating to 1898.
The concept
Designed by Cecil Ogden and opened in 1898, the building once hosted Winston Churchill and the Queen Mother before reopening as the eighth property in Ascott's Unlimited Collection. The restoration pairs Art Deco detailing with The Kings Hall, Leicester's largest historic ballroom, aiming at business travellers and event guests rather than a generic city-centre crowd.
Dining & wellness
O.W. at The Grand, named for founder Orson Wright, serves all-day British dishes and handmade pies with a rotating local gin selection, plus Afternoon Tea.
