The place

42–44 Honeysuckle Drive, on Newcastle's harbourfront in the Honeysuckle precinct, close to the city's dining and entertainment strip.

The concept

DOMA Group's third Little National property, following Canberra and Sydney, is a genuine new-build tower rather than a conversion, designed by architect Bates Smart with interiors by Luchetti Krelle in the brand's compact, design-led "smart luxury" style. At opening, trade press framed it as Newcastle's third five-star hotel, joining Crystalbrook Kingsley and QT Newcastle, and as the city's highest room count at 181 keys. The hotel includes a 24-hour wellness centre fitted with Technogym equipment and a lounge and library area for guests.

Dining & wellness

Monte, a light-filled ground-floor café and all-day dining venue, serves a coastal-inspired brunch menu of baked goods, coffee and casual dishes; guests also have direct access to a lounge bar within the hotel's library space.

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at Little National Newcastle! The hotel is incredibly modern, spotlessly clean, and exceptionally well-kept throughout. It has a brilliant central location that makes getting around the city a breeze, and the staff were wonderfully friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. What really set this place apart for me were the thoughtful little details. I absolutely loved the Japanese teapot in the room, and the complimentary chocolate was such a sweet touch. The room also features in-ceiling speakers that you can connect to wirelessly, which made it so easy to relax and listen to my own music. Secure undercover parking is available at an extra cost. There is a cafe on the premises right outside the main entrance, that is open from 6.30am. Highly recommend staying here if you want a stylish, comfortable, and top-tier experience!

Recently stayed with them and had a great experience. It’s within walking distance of all the amenities, a short 8-minute light rail ride to the beach, 35 minutes from Airport by Uber and in a really great central surrounding area. The staff members are friendly and accommodating and allowed early check-in without any additional charge. The standard rooms are quite small but good for two people. Please book a larger room for more than two people. Will definitely stay with them again.

Such a cute and cosy place! I absolutely love the design of the rooms, I think they are super cool. The bed is genuinely the most comfortable, soft, cosy bed I have ever slept in. Ditched my plans to lay in bed all day because it is heaven! The rooms are modern with the nice touch of electric curtains and simple buttons to change the light settings. Stocked with delicious T2 teas and a nice shower. Will definitely come back!

We enjoyed our two nights stay here. The hotel is so clean and chic. Reasonable price and there is always cold drinking water available. There is even space for meeting and studying if needed. Also the gym is in decent size.

Beware of the smell when it rains. The room was nice and cosy and staff were friendly but my room smelt like cooked fish hence the low rating. The gym here is great and honestly everything is great but for the price really they need to fix the smell. The staff gave me a room spray which was nice but only worked for 30 min
