The former Trump International Hotel Waikiki became an LXR property run by Hilton after a 100 million dollar renovation.

The 38-story tower that opened in 2009 as Trump International Hotel Waikiki left that brand in 2024. Its owners ended the Trump licensing agreement, and Hilton took over operations under the LXR Hotels & Resorts flag. The building is owned by Irongate. A 100 million dollar renovation followed, completed for the full reopening in 2026.

The place
The hotel is at 223 Saratoga Road, near Fort DeRussy Park, at the edge of Waikiki Beach.
The concept
The renovation moved the building from a classic luxury hotel to a residential model. The 238 rooms are studios and suites with full kitchens, spa-style bathrooms and private lanais, a format designed for longer stays.
Bryan O'Sullivan Studio led the project, with Guerin Glass Architects. The palette relies on wood, lava stone, marble and woven textures, with custom lighting and an art collection tied to the island.
The name comes from la'i, Hawaiian for calm.
Dining & wellness
Executive Chef Yoshi Ohata runs three concepts. Bloom Cafe & Restaurant serves all day and opened first. Kini Room is the signature restaurant and Muse Lounge the lobby bar, both announced for the summer of the reopening.
Spa Ka La'i offers a refreshed treatment program. The pool deck has been redesigned and gains new cabanas.

July 1, 2026: Ka La'i Waikiki Beach, the former Trump International Hotel Waikiki, reopens after a 100 million dollar renovation. The 238 studios and suites have a kitchen, a private lanai and a spa-style bathroom. Bloom restaurant is open, while Kini Room and Muse Lounge open in the summer. Executive Chef is Yoshi Ohata, the owner is Irongate and Hilton operates under the LXR brand.
