Hyatt Place Hamilton McMaster Innovation Park

Set to open in fall 2026, Hyatt Place Hamilton McMaster Innovation Park is the traditional-stay half of Hamilton's first hotel built inside McMaster Innovation Park, a research and tech campus near McMaster University. Developed by Sigma Group and Kothari Group, its 78 rooms are aimed squarely at business and conference travellers visiting the Park.

The place

The hotel rises on the west side of Longwood Road South, inside McMaster Innovation Park, a research and tech campus about two kilometres from McMaster University's main grounds, across the street from the Park's Atrium building.

The concept

Hyatt Place Hamilton McMaster Innovation Park is one half of a new seven-storey, 162-key dual-branded building going up alongside Hyatt House Hamilton McMaster Innovation Park, developed jointly by Sigma Group and Kothari Group. It is the first hotel built inside McMaster Innovation Park, a campus that has grown around the university's research and commercialization partners, and both McMaster's leadership and MIP's own executives have framed the project explicitly as infrastructure for that ecosystem rather than a leisure destination — MIP CEO Gailene Tobin Vandenheuvel called it "key to our vision for McMaster Innovation Park — a place where collaboration thrives and innovation is accelerated," while McMaster president Susan Tighe described it as "more than a building — it's a catalyst for connection." As the traditional, shorter-stay half of the dual-brand pairing, Hyatt Place is pitched at business travellers, conference attendees and campus visitors who need a bed near the Park rather than a downtown Hamilton address — a straightforward, functional read on the market rather than a design-led one.

Dining & wellness

The shared building includes a casual dining lounge with a bar and restaurant, a 24-hour fitness centre, an indoor saltwater pool, a business centre and 300 to 2,800 square feet of flexible meeting space for academic conferences and research symposia.
