The postal address is Park City, Utah, but the district sits well east of the historic town and is reached from the Jordanelle reservoir side rather than through Park City's Main Street, roughly 40 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport.
The concept Grand Hyatt Deer Valley opened on 20 November 2024 as the first resort in Deer Valley East Village, the ground-up ski district Extell Development Company is building alongside Deer Valley Resort's terrain expansion — billed as the first purpose-built luxury ski village in North America in more than four decades. The hotel opened simultaneously with more than 300 skiable acres, twenty new runs and three new chairlifts, which is an unusual position for a hotel to be in: guests arrived to a mountain that had not existed the previous season.
Denver practice OZ Architecture designed the building, which runs to 436 keys split between 381 guestrooms and 55 residences — a scale far above anything else in Deer Valley, and one aimed as much at the group and conference market as at skiers, with close to 30,000 square feet of event space including a 10,000-square-foot ballroom. It has since been joined in the district by Canopy Deer Valley in 2026, with a Waldorf Astoria and a Four Seasons both targeted for 2028.
Dining & wellness Four venues: Remington Hall, the après-focused Hidden Ace, the Living Room and Double Blacks. Wellness is handled by The Spa at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley, alongside a heated outdoor pool with three oversized hot tubs and a fitness centre. Families get a Camp Hyatt kids' club, and the hotel runs skier services and a pet-friendly programme.
Our take Opening a 436-key hotel into a ski village that does not yet exist is a bet on Extell finishing what it started, and for two seasons the Grand Hyatt has effectively been Deer Valley East Village on its own. It is worth being clear about what this is: a large convention-capable mountain resort under Hyatt's upper-upscale brand, not a boutique ski lodge, and the ballroom footprint tells you who it was built for. The mountain access is genuinely exceptional and hard to argue with. What it lacks — and what the Waldorf Astoria and Four Seasons arriving in 2028 will supply — is any sense of scarcity.

Christina Darkazalli · 5/5 We just wrapped up a 6-night stay at the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley and while our first couple of days had some hiccups, the way the team responded turned this into a trip we'll remember for all the right reasons.
To be transparent: we ran into some early frustrations around check-in communication, breakfast credit confusion, and restaurant hours not matching the posted information. But once we raised these concerns, General Manager Nate Hardesty and his team — especially Shelbie — went above and beyond. That kind of accountability and genuine care is rare, and it said a lot about the culture this property is building.
From there, the stay was outstanding. The pool was a highlight for our whole family, and the location made it effortless to shuttle into downtown Park City for dinners and exploring. The surrounding activities kept us busy every day. Food quality across the property was consistently excellen; every meal felt elevated.
The real star, though, was the playroom at Camp Hyatt. Our girls had an amazing time and it gave us some moments to relax as parents, too.
We came in as Globalist members with high expectations, and while the start was bumpy, the way the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley leadership listened, responded, and followed through made all the difference. We're already looking forward to coming back and recommending it to friends and family.
TLDR: I work as a wedding designer for Planned by Peter and we recommend the GHDV to all our couples as their wedding venue because it is a 10/10 all the way around.
I am the lead designer with Planned by Peter Weddings and Events. Our team recently had the pleasure of planning and designing a wedding at the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley and we don’t have enough good things to say about the experience and amenities. The resort is new and spacious, the ceremony views over the water are stellar, their in-house catering was delicious (and yes they were responsible for the tiramisu tower in the photos!), and the staff is fantastic.
Each staff member I interacted with was professional and helpful, but I specially need to call out Moraya, Jairo, and John. Moraya was the contact for the our couple and us and was accommodating, kind, and overall brilliant. John and Jairo were on site on the wedding day and oversaw catering and event prep with us and provided a level of attentiveness we have never had the joy of having before. Having this allowed the wedding day to be prepped smoothly, allowed for changes due to the weather, and helped provide an unforgettable guest experience.
We have worked in many other park city resorts and venues nearby, including the St, Regis, Deer Valley resort, and many others, and would have to say that our clients have had the best experience at the Grand Hyatt. Currently in the middle of a stay at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley, and could not be more impressed by the hotel and staff.
Rooms: Comfy, spacious, and has a great view of the valley below. Well appointed, soft towels, even a few fresh sprigs of eucalyptus hanging in the shower.
Restaurant: Have eaten at their signature restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. The ribeye, mashed potatoes, and Parker House rolls were great. The breakfast buffet was worth eating each day I’ve been here.
Staff: Everyone here has been incredibly friendly and helpful. Front desk accommodated my request for a valley view, the valets were prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable about the local area, and the night manager offered to open up the sundries shop late at night just for me to grab a few items.
Location: Seems to be a great area, close to Park City but far enough away to feel more slow/calm.

The rooms were clean, spacious, and well maintained. We stayed in one of the residence-style units with separate bedrooms and a full kitchen, and the accommodations themselves were beautiful.
Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended.
We stayed here for a few days specifically to relax before heading home from another vacation. Our plan was to enjoy the pool, book a spa treatment, and simply unwind. Instead, we were surrounded by construction on literally every side of the property. No joke, there are buildings going up on every side of the hotel but the front of the property.
Our room overlooked an active construction site with workers directly across from our windows. We had to keep the curtains closed for privacy, so there was no mountain view or scenery to enjoy. The balcony was unusable. Every single morning we were woken by construction noise. Dumpsters were being slammed, workers were yelling back and forth, and a jackhammer started up early enough to make sleeping or relaxing impossible. It was LOUD. It completely defeated the purpose of staying at what is marketed as a luxury resort.
To make matters worse, the spa was also under construction, eliminating another reason we chose this property. Because of the construction, there was no self parking available so every day we had to struggle with the valet as well as pay $50 a night. Between the noise, the lack of any usable view, and the closed spa, the experience was nothing like what was advertised.
I understand that construction happens, and I don’t necessarily blame the hotel for that. What I do blame them for is how they handled our concerns. This location was not clearly presented to us. The construction is not just a minor inconvenience and I’m frankly surprised that they would place anyone in rooms so close to the chaos. That was a bad move on their part. We spoke with the hotel during our stay and were completely ignored.
Had someone simply apologized or recognized that our stay was far from what we expected, that would have gone a long way. Instead, we were left feeling like our concerns didn’t matter at all.
There are plenty of other places to stay in the area. Until the construction is finished, I cannot recommend this property if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway. The lack of customer service after the fact was just as disappointing as the construction itself. Because of this experience, we will not be returning to this Hyatt or staying at any Hyatt property in the future.
