We spent 3 days in Oaxaca with a group of friends and honestly this was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed out. It truly was a boutique hotel with amazing staff and service. The hotel is in a great location, just a few blocks from the main downtown street with a lot of cute shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars. There is also a decent size park near the hotel where they usually have live music and food vendors every evening while we were there.
The hotel itself is pretty quiet, with only 6 rooms, but they are very nice rooms. They are kept up well, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and someone is always there 24/7 at the front desk to help with anything that you need.
The staff at the hotel is absolutely amazing. Very friendly, easy to talk to; we had a lot of fun conversations with them. In addition, the service itself was impeccable. They answered all of our questions and took care of stuff almost immediately. They were willing to help setup a mezcal tour if we needed, arranged taxi service to the airport, arranged 1 day laundry service for us, and even arranged for a concierge doctor to come to the room within an hour when one of our friends got sick.
We really enjoyed Oaxaca and this hotel experience put it over the top for us! We definitely plan to come back again sometime next year!
Majagua Hotel Boutique Oaxaca was the best choice in choosing a place and location in the center of the city of Oaxaca. The hotel has the highest service in taking care of the guests. They will offer private drivers and or taxi services to move around Oaxaca. Karen and the staff were the best in taking care and giving suggestions to the us. Rooms are always clean with cleaning service every day. Their attention to detail is second to none and they took great care of us.
I rarely write long hotel reviews, but Majagua deserves one. I spent a week in Oaxaca and Majagua ended up being much more than simply a place to sleep. From the moment I arrived, the staff were exceptionally kind, welcoming and genuinely interested in ensuring I have a comfortable stay and experience in Oaxaca.
What stood out most was how thoughtful everyone was. Upon request, I was given a quiet ground-floor room with a beautiful patio, brought jugs of cold water and offered breakfast in my room. Small gestures like that make a huge difference.
The hotel itself is beautiful, peaceful and full of character. The location is excellent, close enough to easily walk into the heart of Oaxaca while still feeling like a peaceful retreat when returning after a day of exploring.
The team were always happy to help with recommendations, transport arrangements and local advice. They also work with an amazing tour company, which organised one of the highlights of my trip - visiting Santa Catarina Minas and meeting a traditional mezcal producer which would not have been easily arranged on my own.
As a solo traveller, what I appreciated most was the warmth of the people working here. Conversations never felt transactional. Everyone seemed genuinely proud of Oaxaca and were always eager to share their knowledge, experiences and recommendations with me.
Oaxaca itself is a special place, but Majagua played a huge part in making this one of the most memorable trips I have taken. It's not just a hotel, it has the warmth of a stay with a small family.
I would not hesitate to stay here again and will recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a comfortable, authentic and genuinely hospitable place to stay in Oaxaca.
Good service. Personnel is friendly and the service is good overall.
Rooms are basic, the air conditioning in ours was super noisy.
The hotel said it has parking , but it doesn’t! Location is in downtown in a super busy street, they do “offer” valet parking. Super expensive. We asked the valet to wash the rental car we had and thet charged us 250 mxp (which is outrageous in relation to the local market). In general this hotel is part of the gentrification sadly happening in Oaxaca.
Our stay at this hotel in Oaxaca was truly exceptional—one of those experiences that makes a trip feel seamless and comfortable, from start to finish.
From the moment we arrived, Sara at the front was incredibly warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. Noticing that we had quite a bit of luggage, she kindly upgraded our room without us even asking. Throughout our stay, Sara continued to go above and beyond. When we decided to extend our time in Oaxaca and take a spontaneous trip to Puerto Escondido, she helped us coordinate transportation. The hotel also graciously held our luggage for three nights while we were away, which made our plans so much easier.
The room itself was wonderful- cozy, beautifully maintained, and incredibly comfortable. The beds were especially great, we slept so well every night. The entire hotel was spotless, with clear attention to detail in every corner. The bathrooms stood out in particular, with spacious, modern showers that felt like a luxury after a long day of exploring.
We cannot wait to stay here again next time we are in Oaxaca. Thank you Majagua💓💓💓
