Uptown is the walkable district between downtown and the Katy Trail that has drawn Dallas's densest concentration of restaurants, boutique retail and new hotel development — a corridor along McKinney Avenue served by its own heritage trolley line. Two hotels we track are already open here — Hôtel Swexan and The Stoneleigh, Autograph Collection — and five more are confirmed across the district's Harwood, McKinney Avenue and Cityplace pockets: The Dallas EDITION, AC Hotel Dallas Uptown, Moxy Dallas Uptown, Dallas Proper Hotel & Residences and Cityplace Tower Hotel.

What to do in Uptown

For a weekend

Walk the Katy Trail's running and cycling path, then spend the afternoon on the McKinney Avenue corridor's restaurants and boutiques — Hôtel Swexan's striking black-granite tower, in the Harwood District, is a short walk from the trail. In the evening, ride the heritage McKinney Avenue trolley between the corridor's restaurant strip and downtown.

For a longer stay

With more time, Klyde Warren Park and the Dallas Arts District are a short walk south into Downtown Dallas, and Knox-Henderson's shops and restaurants sit just north along the Katy Trail.

Where to stay in Uptown

Harwood District

Hôtel Swexan opened in June 2023 at 2575 McKinnon Street in the Harwood District, near Turtle Creek — a 22-story tower clad in black granite that quickly became one of Uptown's most photographed new buildings. The Dallas EDITION, confirmed for 2028, is planned nearby at 3031 N. Harwood Street, anchoring the 2.5-acre Chalk Hill mixed-use development beside the Katy Trail and the Dallas North Tollway.

McKinney Avenue corridor

AC Hotel Dallas Uptown and Moxy Dallas Uptown share a new 19-story tower at 2910 N. Hall Street, on the McKinney Avenue corridor. AC Hotel Dallas Uptown is confirmed for fall 2026, and Moxy Dallas Uptown, occupying the tower's ground-level entrance at the corner of Oak Grove Avenue, is confirmed for summer 2026 — both within Uptown's densest bar-and-restaurant strip.

Cedar Springs Road & Reverchon Park

The Stoneleigh, Autograph Collection opened in May 2026 in Uptown, near Reverchon Park and the Katy Trail, a short ride from the Dallas Museum of Art, the Meyerson Symphony Center and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. Dallas Proper Hotel & Residences, targeting 2029, is planned nearby on a four-acre site at 2500 Cedar Springs Road, within walking distance of Klyde Warren Park.

Cityplace

Cityplace Tower Hotel, with no confirmed opening date, would occupy eight floors of the 42-story Cityplace Tower at 2711 North Haskell Avenue, above the Cityplace/Uptown DART station, as part of a wider $445 million redevelopment converting the rest of the tower into apartments.
