In the evening, Statler Plaza and the Main Street District around Thompson Dallas fill in with restaurants and bars.

With more time, Deep Ellum's mural-covered warehouses are an easy walk east across the Good-Latimer Tunnel, and Uptown's McKinney Avenue trolley connects downtown to the Katy Trail a short ride north.

Thompson Dallas opened in November 2020 on the lower floors of The National, a 52-story tower filling an entire downtown block bounded by Elm, Pacific, Akard and Field streets, at 1401 Elm Street — a few steps from the DART Akard rail station, in a stretch of downtown that spent much of the 2010s working through office vacancy before this conversion anchored its retail and residential comeback.
Statler Plaza
The Statler Dallas, Curio Collection by Hilton sits at 1914 Commerce Street on Statler Plaza, directly across from the Dallas Public Library and a short walk from the Arts District and the West End — the same address the building has held since 1956, reopened as a hotel in October 2017 after sitting dark for years.
