The place
Herbert Walker Avenue, Southampton, close to West Quay and roughly half a mile from the Horizon Cruise Terminal and Gate 8 cruise departure dock — a waterfront position aimed squarely at cruise passengers as well as city and business visitors.
The concept
Valor Hospitality took the existing Holiday Inn Southampton through a full bedroom-by-bedroom refurbishment and rebrand into IHG's upscale voco flag, one of two voco conversions the operator unveiled together in this push (alongside voco Leicester's stablemate rollout). The 133 rooms were renovated with upgraded furnishings and premium bedding, and the hotel's five meeting and event spaces were refreshed for weddings, corporate functions and social gatherings. The refurbishment also added sustainability touches — aerated showerheads and energy-efficient LED lighting — and the property keeps a mini gym and on-site parking with EV charging.
Dining & wellness
Atlantic Gate Seafood and Cocktails, a new seafood-focused restaurant and bar named for the nearby Gate 8 cruise dock, anchors the food and beverage offer with a maritime-inspired design and a menu built around locally sourced seafood and signature cocktails; it's part of Valor Hospitality's SAVOR portfolio of in-house dining concepts.
