The place
Vīb Tempe stands at 511 S. Farmer Ave, at Fifth and Farmer streets in downtown Tempe, about two blocks from Arizona State University's main campus and within walking distance of Mill Avenue and the Valley Metro light-rail line.
The concept
Vīb Tempe broke ground in December 2020 and opened in March 2022 as the second U.S. location of Best Western's relaunched urban boutique brand, after Springfield, Missouri, with international outposts in Bangkok and Antalya. It's notable within Best Western's portfolio of roughly 4,500 branded hotels as one of the very few the company owns and operates itself rather than franchises — built explicitly as a prototype to test construction costs and operations before pitching the brand to franchise developers.
Dining & wellness
The hotel includes Cousins Maine Lobster as its ground-floor restaurant, a lobby bar serving cocktails, light dining and espresso drinks, and Upbar, a rooftop lounge with cocktails and local craft beer, alongside an all-season outdoor pool.
