Telegraph Hotel occupies the former headquarters of the Coventry Evening Telegraph on Corporation Street. Bespoke Hotels runs it. The conversion took two years and cost 18 million pounds. The hotel has 88 rooms, a restaurant and bar called Forme & Chase, and a rooftop bar named Generators. The Coventry Society reported it opening in May 2021, after pandemic delays.
The address is 157 Corporation Street, in Coventry city centre. The rooftop bar looks over Belgrade Square, and the building stands on one of the main shopping streets laid out when the city was rebuilt after the Second World War.
The concept
The building dates from the 1950s and housed the newspaper for more than fifty years. The conversion kept original period features and leans on mid-century styling.
There are 88 air-conditioned bedrooms, individually designed, from large doubles and twins to several duplex penthouse suites. The Lord Iliffe Suite has its own hot tub and terrace, and a private Winter Garden is shared by eleven surrounding rooms.
Printing terms run through the names: a forme is the locked frame of type in a press, and the chase is the iron frame that holds it.
Dining & wellness
Forme & Chase is the all-day restaurant and cocktail bar, serving full meals, light bites and afternoon tea. Generators, the rooftop bar, opened with a tapas menu and drew more than 3,000 visitors in its first month.
The Editors function space takes up to 160 guests, with two private meeting rooms, and the hotel hosts weddings and conferences.

June 7, 2021: The Coventry Society reported that the Telegraph Hotel had finally opened after pandemic-related delays. The 88-room hotel, run by Bespoke Hotels, is the result of a two-year, 18 million pound conversion of the former Coventry Telegraph offices, with its rooftop tapas bar having welcomed more than 3,000 visitors in its first month.
