Soho House Rhinebeck

Soho House Rhinebeck, also known as Grasmere House, is a private members' retreat under construction on a historic 18th-century Hudson Valley estate, after the Town of Rhinebeck Planning Board granted final approval in February 2026. The 48-bedroom project restores a manor built for a Revolutionary War general and adds new cabin buildings, with an opening targeted for 2027 or 2028.

The concept

Grasmere House is an 18th-century brick manor first built in 1775 for Gen. Richard Montgomery, the first high-ranking American officer killed in the Revolutionary War, and rebuilt on its original foundations after an 1828 fire. The Town of Rhinebeck Planning Board conditionally approved the site plan in 2022 but did not clear the project for construction until February 2026, after a lengthy review. Soho House's plan restores the manor into guest accommodations and dining space while preserving its brick exterior and historic architectural features, adding 17 new eco cabins and additional cabin buildings around it — a private members' club and resort rather than a public hotel. The target opening has been reported as 2027 in earlier coverage and 2028 in more recent reporting, treated here as a range pending a firmer date.
