Quest Palmerston North opened on 12 August 2020 and was the 35th property in the Quest network in New Zealand. It has 40 serviced apartments in the city centre.
It replaced the earlier Quest Apartment Hotel in the same city, rather than adding a second one.
The apartments sit in Palmerston North's CBD at 109 Fitzherbert Avenue. The nearby list from Quest includes the city library, a Jetts gym, the Manawatu River Walkway, Victoria Esplanade and the Lido Aquatic Centre.
The concept
The building was a joint venture between local iwi Rangitāne o Manawatū and Wallace Development. It is run as a franchise by Delia and Ben Goodall, who moved from front-office roles at the previous Quest in the city to become franchisees.
Studios have kitchenettes. One- and two-bedroom apartments have full kitchens, and the two-bedroom units add laundry facilities. Internet access is available on demand.
Quest runs a pantry service that delivers groceries to the apartment. When Quest announced the opening, it said its network had hosted 560,000 guests over 750,000 room nights in the previous year.
Dining & wellness
There is no restaurant. Each apartment has its own kitchen, and Quest offers a local restaurant chargeback, which lets guests bill meals at partner restaurants to their apartment account.
