Moxy Plymouth opened on June 13, 2023, in the Millbay regeneration area, next to the Plymouth Pavilions arena. It has 200 rooms and is the second Moxy in the south-west of England.
The hotel is run by Hotel Co 51, described as Marriott's largest Moxy franchise partner in Europe, with Vastint as developer partner. For the management company it was the 15th Moxy in the UK. James Gardiner is hotel manager.
Millbay Road runs along the old docks, a district the city has been redeveloping around the Pavilions. The hotel sits beside the venue. On site parking is available and the hotel is dog-friendly.
The concept
The design looks back to the docks built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel in 1844. The lobby is nautical, with murals of Smeaton's Tower, ships and fishing scenes, lighting made of fishing nets and a ceiling pattern of star constellations. The palette is dark blue with muted neutrals.
Rooms have leather headboards, walk-in showers and a work area, and the layout is built to maximize storage. A 24-hour gym is on site.
Dining & wellness
The bar is the center of the ground floor. It serves cocktails, wines and spirits, with a selection of local gins and beers, and an all-day snack menu. Each guest gets a complimentary signature cocktail or mocktail on arrival, a Moxy habit.
