Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas Paradise Valley

The long-running Scottsdale Plaza Resort reopened in January 2026 as Kimpton Miralina, a 40-acre retreat between Camelback and Mummy mountains. Its first phase — 260 rooms and casitas, a Wes Avila restaurant and a five-room spa — is open now; villas, residences and a second restaurant are due later in 2026 toward a planned 404-key total.

The place

A 40-acre site in Paradise Valley, Arizona, between Camelback Mountain and Mummy Mountain — an ultra-low-density, upscale residential enclave a few minutes from Old Town Scottsdale and Sonoran Desert trailheads, distinct from Scottsdale's resort-hotel strip.

The concept

Trinity Investments and Partners Group spent $42.2 million converting the long-running independent Scottsdale Plaza Resort into Kimpton's second Arizona property and one of its largest resorts worldwide, reopening the first phase in January 2026. The design leans into indoor-outdoor desert living: terracotta, sage and violet tones, a rammed-earth pool mural echoing Mummy Mountain's silhouette, and woven-craft details running through the public spaces, anchored by a lobby textile installation, "The Loom," from artist Mariella Motilla. As of September 2026 only the first phase — 260 Canyon Guestrooms and Casitas — is open; 134 Valley Villas, an "Enclave" hotel-within-a-hotel, and Arizona's first Katsuya restaurant are still to come later in 2026 and into 2027, so the property is not yet at its full ~404-key build-out.

Dining & wellness

Hecho Libre, an all-day Mexican restaurant from chef Wes Avila with hospitality group sbe, anchors the food and beverage program, alongside Cima poolside bar, an agave-forward bar and an artisan café. Spa Miralina runs five treatment rooms, poolside massage pavilions, a full-service salon, sauna and cold plunge, across six outdoor pools; a fitness pavilion and an outdoor wellness program round out the offering. Katsuya, sbe's Japanese concept, is confirmed for the property's still-unbuilt second phase.
