The Kenrick Hotel reopened in 2025 at 419 Banff Avenue, steps from the town centre. The former High Country Inn, which opened in 1982, is family-owned and was renovated throughout. The hotel lists 67 rooms, while local press speaks of 70 suites including family suites, so the sources differ on the count.
The spa and pool were fully open by June 2025.
Banff Avenue is the town's main street, and the hotel sits at number 419. An outdoor patio with fire pits, mountain views and on-site parking come with the address.
The concept
The building combines three structures from different eras. Mera Studio was the lead architect and BUILD IT ran the construction, which one of the builders dates from October 2024 to May 2025, while another account describes a multi-phase renovation lasting two and a half years. The roof, siding and exterior envelope were replaced, along with the mechanical and electrical systems.
Inside, exposed rustic beams sit beside custom millwork and curved mirrors. Some of the art, textiles and furniture come from Alberta makers. Rooms have a fireplace, air conditioning and Wi-Fi, and guests can buy bedding and bath products from the hotel's boutique.
The Nora Spa has a saltwater pool, whirlpools, a sauna, a steam room, cold plunges and treatment rooms. Cabanas can be rented at the pool, and there is poolside bar service. The hotel also has a conference centre and a private dining room.
Dining & wellness
The Fat Ox, an Alpine-leaning Italian restaurant connected to the hotel, offers vegetarian and gluten-free options. A coffee shop, Analog Coffee, was due to open in summer 2025. The hotel has its own bar as well as the poolside one.
