The place

The hotel sits directly on Newcastle's Quayside, on the north bank of the River Tyne, on a site left vacant since 2011 after its previous commercial building was demolished.

The concept

Developer Union Property Developments built INNSiDE Newcastle from the ground up on a derelict Quayside plot, working with local architect FaulknerBrowns on a seven-storey building rather than converting or rebranding an existing property. It opened in December 2021 as Meliá's INNSiDE lifestyle brand's first hotel in the city, aimed at both business travelers using the Quayside and Newcastle's convention venues and leisure guests drawn to the riverside setting.

Dining & wellness

Gino D'Acampo Quayside, a 90-cover restaurant and 54-cover bar with floor-to-ceiling windows and an outdoor terrace over the Tyne, serves Mediterranean-inspired Italian food from breakfast through late evening. The adjoining Open Bar & Lounge offers a separate indoor lounge and outdoor terrace with river views.
