Hilton Beachfront Resort & Spa Hilton Head Island

The former Marriott Hilton Head Resort & Spa reopened as Hilton Beachfront Resort & Spa Hilton Head Island on 1 March 2024, after a multi-million-dollar renovation of all 513 rooms and suites by owner-operator Columbia Sussex. Set on eleven oceanfront acres in Palmetto Dunes with five dining venues, two outdoor pools and Spa Soleil, it is the only full-service Hilton-branded resort within 200 miles.

The place

Oceanfront in Palmetto Dunes, the gated residential and golf community in the middle of the island, a five-minute walk from the Palmetto Dunes Club and its courses, and connected to the rest of Hilton Head by the island's network of some sixty miles of paved bike paths.

The concept

The resort spent years as the Marriott Hilton Head Resort & Spa before changing brands on 1 March 2024, an unusually large conversion at 513 keys. Owner-operator Columbia Sussex ran the rebrand at the end of a multi-million-dollar renovation that covered every guest room and suite, including the presidential suite and four vice-presidential suites, and followed an earlier phase on the public areas, restaurants and function space. Hilton positions it as the only full-service resort under its own flag within 200 miles of the island. The name confusion is worth stating plainly for anyone searching: the island was named after a seventeenth-century English sea captain, William Hilton, and has no connection to the hotel group beyond this property.

The resort runs five restaurants and bars, two outdoor pools and Spa Soleil, its full-service spa, on eleven oceanfront acres.
