Ambiente Sedona, A Landscape Hotel, welcomed its first guests on 1 February 2023 at 900 W State Route 89A. It is an adults-only hotel and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. Its 40 atrium suites, 576 square feet each, are raised on steel piers so that the building touches the ground as little as possible.
The three-acre site borders Coconino National Forest, north of State Route 89A, on the western side of Sedona. The atriums look north toward the forest and south and east toward the Steamboat, Chimney, Coffee Pot and Snoopy rock formations, with the Brins Mesa range also in view. A restored ancient waterway runs through the property and serves as a water feature.
The concept
The developer is Two Sister Bosses, a Sedona family company, which spent about five years on the project. The label 'landscape hotel' describes a format that limits the footprint of the buildings on the terrain.
Each atrium is a cube of floor-to-ceiling bronze-tinted glass framed in matte-charcoal and rusted metal. Inside are custom wallpaper, live-edge wood furniture, a deep tub, and a kitchenette restocked daily with complimentary refreshments. A private rooftop deck is meant for stargazing. Introductory rates in the opening month started at $899 a night, while later published rates are higher, from around $1,800 according to one listing.
A meeting space called The Cove takes groups. The pool and the spa are open all year and the water is heated in cool weather. Seasonal programs include yoga, sound healing, guided stargazing, poolside films, cocktail classes and chef's tasting dinners.
Dining & wellness
Forty1 is the main restaurant, serving breakfast and dinner in the middle of the property. Its cooking is seasonal modern American and draws on the Verde Valley. Next to it, The Drifter is a casual spot open all day. Velvet Spa, in the main lobby building, offers treatments made with locally sourced ingredients and is described by the hotel as booking up quickly.
