Stayed here for 2N last week and had an amazing stay!
The service was the most surprising part: everyone at the front desk was personable, super helpful, and really made our stay. I even remember a couple of their names: Adrian, Kareezuh, & another man who offered to help make us a reservation at a beach club in Isla Mujeres.
The next surprising part was the breakfast- which we got with our room. An omelette station, fresh honey, espresso - it was a very good breakfast and worth the inclusion with the room. Just made things easier to start the day.
We got the Sunset view room which was worth the lovely view. Rooms 407 & 409 were spacious, beds were comfortable, pillows were great, and there’s filtered water.
The rooftop infinity pool was nice and chill during the day.
Price was reasonable, especially since I prefer non-all-inclusive hotels. Will definitely come back and stay the next time I’m in Cancun!
My recent stay at the Canopy by Hilton Cancun La Isla was nothing short of exceptional. I was there for over two months for work, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay.
From the moment I arrived, the entire team was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Over time, I had the chance to get to know several staff members on a more personal level, which made the experience even more special. A heartfelt thank you to Carla, Maggy, and Yohandra. They truly went above and beyond and made my stay unforgettable.
The rooftop pool is absolutely stunning, the views are incredible and something I never got tired of. The hotel’s location is perfect, and the property itself is beautiful and well-maintained.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cancún. It’s more than just a place to stay, it’s an experience!
this hotel is more or less the nightmare scenario that people warn you of when you come to mexico — everyone will have their hand in your wallet, trying to scam you or ask you for money at every turn.
the service was abysmal. the fire alarm in our room kept going off (the fire alarm was not going off anywhere else on our floor) and nobody on the staff was responsive when informed. we also had to beg for our room to be serviced, having been forgotten on the cleaning schedule multiple times. our room had no soap or conditioner for the first 3 days of our stay, and products were not refilled despite asking multiple times.
the staff were beyond aggressive in asking for tips. every meal, the staff would set the bill in front of us, and then tell us 2-3 times that tip wasn’t included and that we should tip. they would demand tips before we were finished eating, and once we tipped them, they would abandon our table, never coming back to clear plates, ask if we wanted drinks, etc. service was also abysmal and honestly not tip-worthy.
the front desk are also running a scam. every time i asked them for any kind of local advice (about the bus, a local museum, etc) they would try to force me to purchase a tour from the private tour company sitting in the hotel lobby.
when (blessedly) the final day of my stay came, i asked the front desk to book me a cab. they told me it would be 700 pesos with card or 600 pesos in cash. i told them that i would pay with card. when i get in the cab, the price jumps to 800. when i get to the airport, the driver says 867 because the bank charges a 5% fee for card (even though i was already paying a 100 peso upcharge for paying with card). to make matters worse, i saw texts exchanged between the driver and the concierge where the concierge was encouraging the driver to charge more.
when i received my bill at the end of my stay, there were also multiple service charges added to the bill that were never explained, and i was never informed of them ahead of time. i don’t even know what services the charges were for.
the hotel is also disgustingly run down — nowhere near adhering to the brand standards of a canopy. the hallways smell like mold, the walls and carpet are peeling, and the entire thing is just … damp.
using the hotel amenities such as the pool and hot tub was also impossible. the hotel sells day passes that allow people to come and use the pool and hot tub and other amenities. this would be fine except there is consistently no space for the actual hotel guests. whenever i tried to use the chairs next to the pool, i was told they were reserved only for people who bought a day pass. how does that make sense? you can’t use the hotel amenities when you are an actual hotel guest? the pool and hot tub were always absolutely packed by the day pass users. service at the pool bar was also abysmal - we had to ask multiple times to be served and to pay the bill, but they were more than happy to demand tips when the bill came!
would not return again, both to the hotel and also the country as a whole.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was delicious, but the restaurant staff are very friendly, helpful, respectful, professional and ofcurse everything was amazing!! We order octopus , pasta and al pastor tacos. Thank you Hilton staff!!
This was our first day...now it is a different story.....poor service during breakfast, my husband had to get up every time he wants more coffee and get it from one employee behind the bar. I'll update my review later on, but yes staff are quite rude, I agree with the other coments...
It’s very difficult to sum up everything in a short review, but I’ll do my best. After six years without seeing my family, we decided to book rooms at this hotel.
So, when you stay here, they will welcome you incredibly well, treat you with dignity, and you’ll have a wonderful time.
Adrián at the Front Desk, as well as Adrián, our bellboy, were amazing from the moment we arrived. We came from the United States, Mexico, and Colombia for this family reunion, which, as I mentioned before, was wonderful. The food was incredible. We had reservations at places like Mortero and Porfirio, but we preferred to cancel them just to stay at the hotel. The service was extremely warm; every single person who attended to us went above and beyond to treat us in the best way possible.
There’s a sense of family when you stay here that makes any expectation you might have be exceeded by far.
Maggie at breakfast was phenomenal. Carla was also incredible. Captain Alberto and Vanessa always did everything possible to ensure my grandmother, who has a mobility disability, was treated in the best way, seated comfortably, and had her food brought to her without any issues.
Regarding the rooms, they are very beautiful. I recommend trying to book a room with an ocean view; however, the view of La Isla Shopping Mall is also lovely. As is standard at Hilton properties, housekeeping is every other day, but you can request service on a specific day. Our housekeeper, Yulie, is possibly one of the best we’ve ever met in our travels. The room was always tidy, the trash was always taken out, and everything was always clean. Her attention to detail was incredible, and she left me notes that made me cry several times because of how beautiful they were.
The hotel has a rooftop with a pool overlooking the shopping mall, and the bar area has a view of the beach. We personally loved it when they brought in DJ Ailin. The only thing to improve is the music when there’s no DJ: the volume is very high and it’s like rave music.
Fernando and Jorge were incredible with us, excellent bartenders with great service. We would also like to highlight the wonderful work of Aarón, who I believe is the head of security. He was always making sure everything was okay and that if we needed anything, he was there to help.
I could keep talking about how amazing this stay was and how wonderfully the Canopy team worked to make it unforgettable. Today, as we’re checking out of this hotel, we’re already making our next reservation to come back, because for us, not only the service but the quality is invaluable.
It’s strategically located: you can walk or take a bus that takes less than 10 minutes to get to the beach, or if you have a car, driving is super easy. If you like good food, you’ll find it here. The drinks are excellent and they always have daily promotions. Plus, the shopping mall helps take away a lot of stress. If you’re going to buy souvenirs, we recommend Mercado 28. And if you have any questions or need anything, just talk to the staff — they will make sure everything is perfect.
For us, this reunion was wonderful, and having such incredible people working at this property made it even better. The owner should feel very proud to have this kind of team in their hotel.
