New hotels in Fishtown

Fishtown is Philadelphia's former working-class riverfront district, now the city's most talked-about dining and nightlife destination, built up along Frankford Avenue's converted rowhouses and warehouses. Three hotels we track have opened here since November 2023 — Switch House Hotel, Riversuites and Hotel Anna & Bel — two of them carved from the same decommissioned power plant on the Delaware riverfront.

Walk Frankford Avenue's restaurant and bar strip in the evening — Fishtown's dining scene is dense enough to fill a weekend on its own — then spend a morning at the Fillmore Philadelphia or one of the neighborhood's smaller music venues nearby. Hotel Anna & Bel sits inside the neighborhood's historic core, a short walk from the avenue itself.

For a longer stay

With more time, the Delaware riverfront trail connects Fishtown south toward Old City and Center City on foot or by bike, and The Battery's waterfront event spaces, around Riversuites and Switch House Hotel, are worth an afternoon even without a wedding to attend.

Riversuites opened in December 2023 at 1325 N. Beach Street, 62 apartment-style suites carved from a decommissioned PECO power plant as part of The Battery, an 11-acre redevelopment led by Lubert-Adler Real Estate Funds; Switch House Hotel followed a month earlier, in November 2023, with 45 residential-style suites in the same complex, run by event company Cescaphe alongside its adjoining wedding venue.

Hotel Anna & Bel opened in August 2024 across a cluster of historic structures, including an 18th-century building that served as a women's asylum and later a retirement home — the neighborhood's first full-service boutique hotel.
