What to do in Center City
For a weekend
Start at City Hall, the second-empire tower whose observation deck looks out over the whole district, then walk south down Broad Street — the Avenue of the Arts — past the Academy of Music and the Kimmel Cultural Campus, both close to The Bellevue Hotel and Cambria Hotel Philadelphia Downtown Center City. In the evening, East Market's restaurants and Reading Terminal Market, a few minutes from Canopy by Hilton Philadelphia Center City, cover dinner without a cab ride.
For a longer stay
With more time, the Pennsylvania Convention Center anchors Center City's northern edge near The Notary Hotel and Aloft Philadelphia Downtown, and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway's museum row — the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Barnes Foundation and the Franklin Institute — runs west from Logan Square past Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center. Old City and Rittenhouse Square both border Center City and are an easy walk from most of these hotels.

East Market
Canopy by Hilton Philadelphia Center City opened in August 2020 inside the restored Stephen Girard Building at 12th and Ludlow Streets, the centerpiece of the East Market redevelopment, a few blocks from Reading Terminal Market and Chinatown.
Chestnut Street & Washington Square West
W Philadelphia opened in August 2021 in a brand-new tower at 1439 Chestnut Street, developed jointly with the adjoining Element Philadelphia; Guild House Hotel followed a month later, a twelve-room conversion of a Victorian rowhouse at 1307 Locust Street in Washington Square West, once run by the city's suffragists.
City Hall & the Convention Center
The Notary Hotel, Philadelphia, Autograph Collection opened in July 2019 inside a 1926 courthouse directly behind City Hall; Aloft Philadelphia Downtown, attached to the Pennsylvania Convention Center, opened in August 2017 inside a converted 1925 bank vault.
Avenue of the Arts
Cambria Hotel Philadelphia Downtown Center City opened in March 2018 at 219 South Broad Street, and The Bellevue Hotel, in The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, followed in November 2024 inside one of the city's most recognizable historic addresses, opposite the Academy of Music.
Logan Square
Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center opened in August 2019 on the western edge of Center City, 60 floors up inside Comcast's second Philadelphia tower, with a shared lobby entrance through the corporate campus below.
