No confirmed openings ahead in Whistler for now.
We track one new hotel in Whistler, British Columbia's best-known ski resort village: Listel Whistler, a Coast Hotel, which relaunched in December 2024 on Village Green, at the base of Whistler Village's pedestrian hub. It's Coast Hotels' expansion into the resort rather than a ground-up build: a 98-room property inside the walkable, car-free village at the foot of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. Anyone visiting today has effectively one option on this list, in the most central location the village offers.
What to do
A weekend in Whistler
In winter, ski or ride Whistler and Blackcomb (North America's largest ski resort by vertical, lifts and terrain) and use the Peak to Peak gondola to move between the two mountains without returning to the village. In summer, walk or bike the village's car-free core, then head out on the Valley Trail or into the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, one of the best-known lift-served bike parks anywhere. Either season, spend an evening at the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre for an Indigenous-led tour of the two nations whose ancestral lands cover the Whistler area.
A full week
With more time, add a day of zip-lining or whitewater rafting, a visit to the Audain Art Museum for its Emily Carr paintings and James Hart carving, and, if timing allows, a session at the Whistler Sliding Centre trying bobsled or skeleton on the 2010 Olympic track. July is the sunniest month for a longer outdoor-focused stay, with roughly 11 hours of daylight and average highs around 19°C (66°F).
Where to stay
Whistler Village
Listel Whistler, a Coast Hotel, relaunched in December 2024 at 4121 Village Green, in the heart of Whistler Village: the resort's compact, walkable pedestrian core, built in the 1970s and designed so that lifts, restaurants and shops are all within easy reach on foot. The 98-room property is Coast Hotels' rebrand and relaunch of the long-running Listel Hotel Whistler, marking the group's continued expansion in British Columbia's best-known ski resort, rather than a new building.
Which hotel for your trip
First-time visitors who want to be inside the village
Listel Whistler's Village Green address puts guests at the base of the resort's pedestrian hub, within walking distance of both the Whistler and Blackcomb lift bases and the village's restaurants and shops.
Skiers and riders
A Village Green location matters most in winter, when a short walk rather than a shuttle ride to the lifts saves time on ski days: Listel Whistler's position covers that directly.
Summer mountain-bike and hiking trips
The same central location works in summer for reaching the Whistler Mountain Bike Park and the Valley Trail on foot or by bike before heading back to the village for the evening.
