I had a wonderful experience at Ruby Hotel Geneva. Even though I didn’t stay overnight, I spent time at the hotel and was genuinely impressed.
The staff are exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and speak multiple languages, making every interaction easy and enjoyable. The reception area and the rooftop bar are beautifully designed, with a spacious layout and a lovely terrace overlooking the city. It’s the perfect place to relax with a cocktail or simply enjoy the atmosphere.
The service was excellent, which is especially appreciated in Geneva, and I found the overall experience to offer great value for money. I also spoke with several guests who stayed at the hotel, and they consistently described the rooms as clean, cozy, comfortable, and well maintained.
The hotel’s location is another major advantage—it’s in one of Geneva’s prime areas, making it a great base for exploring the city.
🙏👍🙏Special thanks to Eloise & Laetitia
Overall, I highly recommend Ruby Hotel Geneva, whether you’re looking for a stay or just a great rooftop spot to unwind. I’ll definitely be coming back.
The location is unbeatable—basically, the hotel drops you right into the luxury-shopping sweet spot, perched above Hermès and only one building away from the riverbend. You can go from high-end dining to McDonald’s without needing a map, and the hotel is connected to Globus, a fancy department store with a surprisingly useful food court in the basement. Just remember: on Sundays, Zurich likes to press pause, so most shops and many restaurants are closed. The hotel’s concept is clever and a little unexpected: the lobby lives on the rooftop, on the 7th floor, sharing space with the bar. It works as a lobby, dining area, hangout spot, and cocktail refuge all in one—and it is open 24/7, which feels like a small miracle when jet lag strikes. The cocktails are surprisingly good, too. Check-in happens through self-service kiosks, but the staff are friendly, attentive, and quick to help whenever needed. They even offered us free drink vouchers if we skipped one day of room service, and naturally, we heroically accepted. Parking is just one block away, so we unloaded our luggage in front of the hotel and then parked in the garage. Since we drove, we cannot comment on public transportation. One extra bonus: the hotel provides spa-grade shampoo, conditioner, two different shower gels, body lotion, and hand soap—so your toiletries can take a vacation, too.
The two downsides are worth knowing before you arrive: first, the hotel can be a little tricky to find because it is tucked inside a shopping building; second, storage is limited, so our luggage staged a full takeover of the floor and desk.
Great hotel. Great location, very central, walking distance from anywhere you like in the centre of Geneva. As soon as you enter the main door of the hotel to get the lift to reception, the place smells amazing!
Staff super friendly and helpful. Check-in was a breeze. Check out, just dump your keycard in the postbox within each lift, easy.
The rooms are lovely, I had a nest room which was perfect for me travelling solo. Clean, comfortable and the toiletries provided with the shower and the sink were lovely as well. If I am lucky enough to return to Geneva, I'll be sure to stay here again.
Our stay here was short but it was nice. We had a bit of a hard time checking in as there was a new system being put in place according to the staff at reception. The staff aren't to blame for the situation but it was all a bit messy. We were given two free drink vouchers to compensate this.
We also had breakfast which was a nice selection, I especially enjoyed the yoghurt bowl station as pictured. The bar staff were very nice and accommodating.
The rooms themselves are nice but not very spacious, so good for a quick stay. The location is quite good and is only about a five minute walk from the central tram lines which also take you to the main train station of the city.
I stayed at both the Geneva and Zurich branches of this hotel, and unfortunately, neither of them lived up to the standards of a five-star hotel. In my opinion, this hotel deserves no more than three stars.
From the moment we arrived, there was no staff member available to help us with our luggage. Even worse, I had to carry all of my family’s bags—we are a family of five—by myself all the way to our room, which was located at the very end of the corridor and required us to climb stairs. This was extremely exhausting and completely unacceptable for a hotel that claims to be five stars.
To make matters worse, although check-in was scheduled for 1:00 p.m., our rooms were not ready until 5:00 p.m., forcing us to wait for hours. The rooms also lacked basic amenities that should be standard in any five-star hotel, such as slippers and bathrobes.
I also experienced what I perceived to be discriminatory treatment from one of the staff members. Their behavior toward me was disrespectful and appeared to be racially motivated, which made my stay even more uncomfortable. No guest should ever feel they are being treated differently because of their race or background.
After staying at both the Geneva and Zurich branches, I can confidently say that this is not an issue with just one location. The level of service, facilities, and hospitality was consistently far below what is expected from a five-star hotel. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a genuinely luxurious stay.
