The place

On Brown Street in central Tauranga, in a city whose accommodation stock has so far been entirely independent.

The concept

The former Hotel Armitage and Conference Centre has been rebranded and refurbished as Mercure Tauranga following a multimillion-dollar renovation, becoming the city's first internationally branded hotel. Accor kept on the existing team through the transition and is pitching the property at corporate travelers, conferencing and sports groups as much as leisure visitors, part of a wider push into New Zealand's Bay of Plenty region.

Dining & wellness

The hotel retains its conference and events facilities from its Hotel Armitage days, with further upgrades to dining and recreational amenities planned for later stages of the refurbishment.
