JAG Hotel (Blues Tower)

JAG Hotel opened in December 2014 in downtown St. John's with a first building called Rhythm. A second tower, Blues, now joins it by a pedway, adding 85 rooms and bringing the total to 169 rooms and suites. The hotel belongs to Steele Hotels, a locally owned chain with six hotels in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The place

The address is 115 George Street West, in the historic downtown and close to the street's bars and restaurants. The area is the city's night district, which suits a hotel built around live music. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance.

The concept

Steele Hotels announced the expansion in December 2023 with a completion target of 2024. A later review places it in 2025, so the schedule slipped by about a year. An earlier report gave the new space as 80 rooms, whereas the group's announcement says 85.

Beyond rooms, the extension added a two-storey multi-purpose hall that can take banquets of up to 600, receptions of up to 1,000 and concerts of up to 1,500 people, plus a new 140-seat lounge. The hotel presents it as JAG Soundhouse, with its own listings for 2026 and 2027: The Trews with Wintersleep, Arkells and Hey Rosetta! among them.

Room types include queen rooms with water views, a deluxe suite, a one-bedroom two-bathroom suite with dining and living areas, a suite with a kitchen, and an accessible king suite.

Dining & wellness

Four venues are listed. Mojo and Exile serve food and drink, JAG Java is the cafe, and Zimmy's is a lounge with live music from Thursday to Saturday.

The Revival Wellness Centre has a lap pool, a sauna, a fitness area and spa services. Meeting rooms are available for groups.
