Hotel Indigo Exeter, a 104-room conversion of the city's former House of Fraser department store in Princesshay, opened in December 2022 after a multimillion-pound renovation by Castlebridge Hospitality. Singapore's CDL Hospitality Trusts acquired the property in October 2024 for £19.4 million.

The place
Princesshay, central Exeter, inside the former House of Fraser building on the site of Colson's department store, which traded there from 1792.
The concept
A multimillion-pound conversion of a 1930s modernist department store building, rather than a ground-up build or a rebrand of an existing hotel — the property had never operated as a hotel before. The 104 rooms are designed around three themes drawn from the building's and the neighbourhood's history: The House That Moved, Colson's Department Store, and Cathedral Heritage.
Dining & wellness
Dottie's serves the hotel's restaurant menu, and Beckett's rooftop bar overlooks the city from the top floor.
