Four Seasons Resort and Residences Puerto Rico

On November 20, 2025, Four Seasons opened its first Puerto Rico resort, taking over the property that had operated as the St. Regis Bahia Beach under Marriott. It is the brand's fourth address in the Caribbean, after Nevis, Anguilla and the Ocean Club in The Bahamas. The resort offers 139 rooms and suites, according to the group's announcement (one press report counts 136), and shares its 483 acres with 85 private residences. Meyer Davis reworked the interiors.

The place

Bahia Beach sits on the northeast coast, in the municipality of Rio Grande, about 30 minutes by car from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. From San Juan the usual route is PR-66 to PR-187.

The estate stretches between Rio Grande and Luquillo, with the Espiritu Santo River State Preserve on one side and El Yunque National Forest, about nine miles away, behind it. The site was a coconut farm before it became a resort, and more than 60 percent of the land is set aside for conservation. The resort says it holds Audubon International Signature Sanctuary certification at the silver level.

The beach runs for two miles. Guided hikes into El Yunque and day trips to Old San Juan are arranged from the resort, which leaves the property better suited to a stay of several days than to a stopover.

The concept

The hotel changed hands in name rather than in ownership. Paulson Puerto Rico, with partners Interlink and Muñoz Holdings, owns the Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club, and announced in Toronto on December 12, 2024 that Four Seasons would take over management. The Paulson group has been on the island since 2013 and also owns the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel and La Concha Resort in San Juan.

Meyer Davis designed the renovation of the guest rooms and suites, the Casa Grande arrival space and the Lobby Lounge. The works also covered the pools, reconfigured to face the ocean, new cabanas, and spa additions including a steam room and a sauna.

Rooms come as Garden-View, Deluxe Garden-View and Oceanfront categories. The Governor Oceanfront Suite has a private elevator and a terrace running the full width of the unit, with an optional second bedroom. At the top of the range, a three-bedroom oceanfront residence has its own pool and direct beach access, and Villa Santuario offers four bedrooms, a full kitchen and outdoor dining.

The grounds carry more than seven miles of walking and biking trails. A Nature Centre and Boathouse handles paddleboarding, fishing and guided birdwatching, and kayaks go out on the Espiritu Santo River. Children are looked after by the Kids For All Seasons program.

Dining & wellness

The resort lists ten dining and bar concepts. El Bembe is the lobby lounge, Paros leans Mediterranean, Seagrapes is open-air, Turtle's Nest is a bar and Sand Dollar serves meals on the sand. A sushi pop-up completes the list. Pre-opening coverage described a main all-day oceanfront restaurant with coastal and Mediterranean influences, plus poolside and bar venues.

The Four Seasons Spa has ten treatment rooms and builds its treatments around local botanicals, coconut and coffee among them, with outdoor yoga and movement classes on the program.

Golf is on site: the Bahia Beach Golf Club is an 18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.
