Four Points by Sheraton Campbell River

Hotel Equities and the We Wai Kai Nation broke ground in August 2026 on a 102-room Four Points by Sheraton at Quinsam Crossing, a Nation-owned commercial development beside Highway 19 on Vancouver Island. The project was first announced in 2020; a traditional Kwakwaka'wakw blessing ceremony marked the restart, with the Nation citing construction and hospitality jobs and a push toward economic self-sufficiency. Opening is targeted for spring 2028.

The place

The hotel is being built at 200 Brant Drive within Quinsam Crossing, a 60-acre commercial development the We Wai Kai Nation owns alongside Highway 19, a few minutes from downtown Campbell River and the airport. Campbell River sits on the east coast of central Vancouver Island, self-styled the 'Salmon Capital of the World' for the Chinook, coho and pink salmon runs through Discovery Passage in front of it, and serves as the main gateway north to Strathcona Provincial Park and the Discovery Islands.

The concept

Groundbreaking was held in August 2026, six years after the project was first announced in 2020, with a traditional Kwakwaka'wakw eagle-down blessing ceremony (K'amk'amxwaliła) led by Hereditary We Wai Kai Chief Yakawidi. The We Wai Kai Nation owns the Quinsam Crossing site outright and has framed the hotel as part of a broader push toward economic self-sufficiency, generating construction and ongoing hospitality jobs for Nation members alongside hotel revenue. Hotel Equities, a US-based hotel management company with a growing Canadian portfolio, will operate the 102-room property under Marriott's upper-midscale Four Points by Sheraton flag. No architect or interior designer has been named publicly for the project as of this pass; Quinsam Crossing's other tenants are standard highway-commercial retail and services, positioning the hotel as a practical, drive-to address for visitors headed further up-island rather than a design-led destination in its own right.

Dining & wellness

No restaurant, bar or spa program has been announced; Four Points properties typically carry a limited-service model with a lobby bar and grab-and-go breakfast rather than a full-service restaurant.
