Faraway Jackson Hole

The Sojourner Inn went up in Teton Village in late 1965, one of three alpine-style lodges that founded the resort village. It was razed, and the Snake River Lodge replaced it in 2000. Blue Flag Capital bought the property in 2023 and has now reopened it as Faraway Jackson Hole, the group's first mountain hotel after Faraway Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and Sag Harbor. Ninety rooms and suites make up the hotel, and the announcement cites 51 residences separately. It opened in July 2026 with an all-day restaurant, Sure Hand, off the lobby.

The place

The hotel sits at 7710 Granite Loop Road in Teton Village, a one-minute walk from the tram terminal and the lifts, with direct access to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

Next door stands the Alpenhof Lodge, another of the village's original alpine hotels. Blue Flag bought it at the same time as the Snake River Lodge and plans a two-year renovation, with a reopening in 2028.

The concept

Faraway Hotels gives each property a fictional character as creative muse. In Jackson Hole she is Hattie Quinn, a fifth-generation homesteading cowgirl, and the line guests are asked to follow is to get lost and come back. Her horse, Sure Hand, gives the restaurant its name.

The interiors strip out the log-pole and taxidermy look that had defined the lodge since 2000. In its place come burl wood and marble, in a palette of sage green, pale sky blue, earthy rock and burnt sienna. Vintage Western jackets and old belt buckles decorate the public spaces, and a bronze sculpture of horsemen by Frederic Remington is on display. Some of the old lodge was kept on purpose: the iron-gate elevators, the elk antlers, the log timbers and the outdoor grotto.

The former spa tower is being converted into guest rooms, while Collared Martin Hospitality runs day-to-day operations.

Dining & wellness

Sure Hand opens daily, reportedly from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., with a stone horse head at its entrance. The menu follows local sourcing: western breakfasts, then chicken, wagyu, bison and trout at lunch and dinner. The bar's list includes a drink called the Indian Paintbrush and a secret one named for the horse whisperer.

The 2000 lodge was built with a 17,000 square foot spa and a heated indoor-outdoor pool with a rock waterfall. Faraway's pre-opening plan was to bring an indoor-outdoor pool, hot tub and sauna back in late summer 2026, and the group has not detailed a new spa menu.
