The place
On the bluff at the northern end of Main Beach, in the centre of Laguna Beach, with the sand directly below and the town's galleries, coves and Pacific Coast Highway frontage within walking distance.
The concept
The building spent years as the Inn at Laguna Beach before new owners brought in Marc & Rose Hospitality and spent about $15 million rebuilding it, reopening in the summer of 2024 under an entirely new name. Electric Bowery, the Los Angeles studio led by Lucia Bartholomew and Cayley Lambur, handled both architecture and interiors, with the graphic identity by LAND. The result keeps the 70-room scale of the original, which local building rules effectively fix in a town that has kept high-rises off its coastline, and puts the effort into the parts that had aged: the rooms, the heated pool deck with its cabanas, the rooftop bar and the beach service. This is a change of flag rather than a refresh, which is what makes it a new opening rather than a renovation.
Dining & wellness
The hotel runs an all-day room serving grazing boards and small plates with wines, beers and canned cocktails, plus a rooftop bar looking over Main Beach. Facilities are a heated outdoor pool with loungers and cabanas and a full beach set-up for guests; there is no spa.
