El concepto No es un hotel nuevo sino un cambio real de propietario y de marca: el edificio operaba antes como Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen, hasta que Grupo Posadas, el mayor operador hotelero de México, lo adquirió y lo reposicionó bajo Devossion by Live Aqua, una marca de nueva creación dentro del portafolio Live Aqua, pensada para un público adulto que busca un todo incluido de tono desenfadado. El lanzamiento coincide con el vigésimo aniversario de Live Aqua.

Nuestra opinión El cambio de Grand Hyatt a Devossion es, ante todo, una apuesta de Grupo Posadas por controlar directamente un activo que antes operaba bajo bandera internacional, y por crear una marca propia de todo incluido premium en un segmento, adults-only en Playa del Carmen, ya disputado por Excellence, Live Aqua Beach Resort y varias cadenas más. El edificio y sus 314 habitaciones son los mismos de siempre; lo que cambia es el operador y el posicionamiento.

This resort has some great qualities, but there are also some significant drawbacks that future guests should be aware of.
The staff was absolutely phenomenal, especially the housekeeping team and the poolside staff. They consistently went above and beyond and were one of the highlights of our stay. Jorge from management was also outstanding—a true professional and a class act who genuinely cared about guest experience.
Unfortunately, the resort itself fell short of expectations. It is a relatively small property with very limited entertainment and activities. After a few days, the experience becomes repetitive, and while it may be a good option for a short getaway, I would not recommend it for a week-long vacation. Restaurant options are also limited, including the steakhouse, which only offered one steak option (which I would not recommend ordering) during our visit.
One of the biggest disappointments was how management handled my sister’s stolen money incident. While Jorge was professional and helpful, Paula’s approach was the complete opposite. Rather than showing empathy or a willingness to investigate, she came across as defensive and combative, as though her priority was protecting the property from liability rather than addressing a legitimate guest concern. We left feeling like we were being treated as suspects instead of valued guests seeking assistance after a very upsetting situation.
Overall, the incredible staff deserves recognition, but the limited amenities, lack of entertainment, and poor handling of a serious guest issue make it difficult for me to recommend this resort for an extended stay.
We visited this resort as first timers for our 32 wedding anniversary. We were greeted at 11 pm (delayed flights) with a refreshing freshly squeezed juice and warm towel to clean our hands from our travel from the airport.
The service from beginning to end of the stay was top notch. The food was fresh and delicious. Can’t get any fresher fruit than in the Cancun area. We might be going back every year if not sooner. Loved it.

Everything was absolutely amazing—from the food and drinks to the coffee and, especially, the desserts. Every single thing we tried was a hit! The poolside brownie was hands down my favorite, and I’m still craving it.
What made this trip even more special was the incredible staff. A huge thank you to Alam, the manager, for making my birthday so memorable. Your kindness and attention to detail meant so much. Also, a big thank you to Gamboa from Filore, the lovely lady with the dachshund from Filore restaurant, Jesse, Santos, Denisse, Stef, and Tania. Every one of you went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for.
The rooms were spotless, the service was exceptional, and the entire team made us feel like VIPs from start to finish.
I honestly can’t wait to come back. Thank you all for making my birthday one I’ll never forget!
We had an incredible time celebrating me & my sister’s birthday staying at Devossion! From the attentive service, beautiful design, and mouth-watering cuisine, we wanted for NOTHING during our stay. It was like they were reading our minds! Anything we wanted they had & the team never hesitated to check in. As serious foodies, we were blown away at every turn. We also got a chance to visit the spa which was gorgeous! I had a fantastic deep tissue message that really kicked off the relaxation.
Overall, I cannot wait to recommend this resort to my friends & family! 1000/10!
My husband and I stayed here for a week and it was one of the best all inclusive experiences we've ever had. The property is beautiful, well kept, and service was impeccable with very friendly and helpful staff.
We had an oceanfront room and the view was perfect. The beach has soft white sand and it's not small so lots of locals, but for us this is a fun experience.
The food was amazing and we appreciated the diversity of the restaurants along with the pop-up food stations each day.
I think the best part was being able to walk off the resort and be in the center of Playa del Carmen, but once you reentered the resort it felt very private.
Our favorite was the various activities each day that centered around Mexican culture and the activity crew constantly going around to get people involved.
I would highly recommend and we definitely want to return!
