The historic warehouse core

Populus Seattle opened in May 2025 inside the restored 1907 Westland Building, a six-story brick-and-timber structure that had never before operated as a hotel. Miller Hull's renovation cut a new interior "sky court" through the building's center, and the 120-room property — the second in Populus Hotels' carbon-positive collection after Populus Denver — earned a Michelin Key in its first year, largely on the strength of 328 commissioned artworks from 35 local and international artists.
