Spend an afternoon at The Galleria itself, more than 375 stores plus an ice rink under one roof at the corner of Westheimer Road and Post Oak Boulevard, then walk north to Uptown Park for an open-air alternative of designer boutiques and restaurants. Williams Tower, the 901-foot skyscraper that briefly held the title of the world's tallest building outside a traditional downtown, anchors the district's skyline a few blocks from the future Ritz-Carlton site.

For a longer stay

With more time, the River Oaks District's boutiques and restaurants sit just south along the district's edge, and Montrose's galleries and the Menil Collection are a short drive east. Downtown Houston is about 20 minutes by car or rideshare.
