Walk Broadway and Pike/Pine, Capitol Hill's main commercial strips, for the neighborhood's restaurants, bars and independent shops, then head a few blocks east to Volunteer Park — home to the Volunteer Park Conservatory and the Seattle Asian Art Museum — a block from where The Baillie is under development on 14th Avenue East.

For a longer stay

With more time, Capitol Hill's live-music venues and dive bars make it Seattle's most consistently recommended neighborhood for an evening out, and it's an easy walk or short rideshare down the hill to Downtown Seattle and the Washington State Convention Center.

The Baillie occupies a Tudor Revival mansion built around 1913-1914 at 907 14th Avenue East, one block from Volunteer Park. The building operated as the Shafer Baillie Mansion Bed & Breakfast from 1979 until its closure at the end of 2025; new owners Harry's Good Times Co. — the team behind Harry's Fine Foods and Harry's Beach House — are converting it into a 10-room, restaurant-led boutique hotel, preserving the mansion's original woodwork and third-floor ballroom, targeted for summer 2027.
