The location is hard to beat if you want to explore Buenos Aires. Almost everything is within easy reach, making it a great base for your trip. The breakfast and executive lounge are decent, but they don’t quite live up to the hotel’s excellent location. It seems the neighborhood is doing most of the heavy lifting.
⭐ 1/5 – Extremely Disappointing Experience at Buenos Aires Marriott Downtown
My stay at the Buenos Aires Marriott Downtown was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had in Buenos Aires. Based on the Marriott brand, I expected professional service, high cleanliness standards, and quality dining. Unfortunately, the reality was the opposite.
The biggest issue at this Marriott hotel in Buenos Aires city center was the lack of customer service. Staff members appeared unmotivated, poorly trained, and often unable to answer basic questions. Requests were either ignored or handled without any sense of urgency.
The food quality at the Buenos Aires Marriott Downtown restaurant was also far below expectations. Meals were inconsistent, poorly prepared, and did not reflect the standards normally associated with an international hotel brand.
Cleanliness and hygiene were another major concern. During my stay, several areas appeared inadequately maintained, creating an impression of poor operational standards and insufficient supervision.
What stood out most was the apparent lack of leadership and management presence. The hotel felt disconnected from the guest experience, resulting in low staff engagement and a complete absence of customer focus.
If you are searching for a hotel in downtown Buenos Aires, I would strongly recommend researching alternatives before booking the Buenos Aires Marriott Downtown. There are many hotels in Buenos Aires that offer significantly better service, food quality, cleanliness, and overall value.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend the Buenos Aires Marriott Downtown and would not stay here again
I'm from Germany and stayed at the Buenos Aires Marriott for 2 nights. I honestly had a really great experience. From the first moment, I felt genuinely welcomed. Especially Celeste at the reception stood out. She was incredibly kind, engaged and helped me so much with a special request. You could really feel that she cared and wanted guests to have a good stay.
The breakfast was very good with a variety of warm and cold options, and a fresh fruit selection.
I was also very happy with the room and appreciated the upgrade. Everything was very clean, the bathroom was nice, and the shower had a strong adjustable water pressure, which was nice. The room temperature was easy to control as well, both heating and cooling worked perfectly.
The only downside for me were the windows, which are not insulated properly in the building, so you can hear some street noise at night. But with earplugs it wasn’t a problem anymore.
The absolute highlight of this hotel is the fitness and pool/spa area on the 23rd floor. The view from up there is incredible, especially during sunset. It actually makes you more motivated to work out. The cardio area is very well equipped, the strength machines are older but still usable.
The pool area was another favorite of mine: heated, clean and located in a beautiful glass indoor area with an amazing view. I also loved that you can dive outside into a small connected outdoor section on the terrace. There is one small sauna for men and one for women as well. Very pleasant when traveling alone, although couples should know that going together in the sauna isn’t possible because of the separation.
Also worth mentioning, every staff member I interacted with was very friendly, and everyone spoke English, which made everything very easy and comfortable as an international traveler.
Would definitely stay here again when coming back to Buenos Aires.
We had a fantastic stay at the Buenos Aires Marriott.
As Marriott Platinum members, we were generously upgraded to a beautiful suite, which made the stay feel extra special. The room was spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully appointed — a wonderful place to relax after exploring the city.
Breakfast each morning was excellent, with a wide selection and attentive service. It was the perfect way to start the day.
Most importantly, the staff throughout the hotel were warm, professional, and genuinely helpful. From check-in to departure, everything felt smooth and well handled.
A great choice in Buenos Aires — we would absolutely stay again. Five stars.
As a Bonvoy member who stays at Marriott properties throughout the year, this was a genuine disappointment.
The hotel feels old and uncared for. Rooms are dark and noisy, with doors that do nothing to block corridor sound — not what you expect at this price point. The overall atmosphere is cold and somewhat decadent, in the wrong sense of the word.
Service at breakfast was particularly poor. Waitstaff showed no initiative — no table approach, no eye contact. The buffet didn’t help either. In the room, complimentary water wasn’t restocked until we asked, and we were then charged for two bottles.
One restaurant in the lobby. That’it, cold and dark
The rooftop pool is the exception — genuinely warm and relaxing. The only place in the hotel where you actually want to spend time.
Marriott can do much better than this for the price they charged
