I really wanted to give this place a glowing review, but aside from a few bright spots, our stay was a massive letdown.
First, credit where credit is due. The location is great, the room view was lovely, and the beach offered some fantastic snorkeling right on-site. The absolute highlight of our trip, however, was dining at La Luce. Huge kudos to the chef—it was genuinely the only good food we had all week. The entire service team there was exceptional, but Christopher and Luis deserve special recognition for being so incredibly kind and attentive.
Unfortunately, it’s all downhill from there.
If you like your resort entertainment organized, comfortable, and air-conditioned, brace yourself. Management apparently decided that the ideal stage for nightly shows is... the lobby. Not the massive, dedicated conference venue sitting right there on the property, but the main lobby. Picture this: guests actively fighting for a sliver of a view, standing around in the humid, non-air-conditioned heat, all while dodging piles of luggage stashed along the sides. It was pure, unfiltered chaos.
The chaos didn't stop in the lobby, either. Room service/housekeeping requests required a personal pilgrimage to the front desk because our room phone didn't work (a problem management casually brushed off as "outside their control"). When housekeeping did show up, they performed what I’d call the absolute bare minimum: floors, trash, bed, done. The balcony remained filthy, and even after directly asking to have the mirrors wiped down, they were left untouched.
As for the room itself? The bathroom layout is puzzling, featuring a window separating the shower/tub from the bedroom with a tiny, useless mirror stuck to the side. The pillows felt like they were stuffed with packing material, and the sheets were old and scratchy.
We hold Hilton Diamond status and have stayed at all-inclusive resorts all over the world, but this room felt like a 2-star hotel. Between the poor overall food, the bizarre entertainment logistics, and the lack of basic room maintenance, any seasoned traveler will likely be disappointed. Save your money and book elsewhere!
My wife and I stayed at the Hilton last week for an anniversary trip. The resort is an incredible property with every accommodation you could ask for. This hotel has EVERYTHING. I struggle to understand some of the negative reviews commenting on dated rooms or bad A/C, as everything is newly remodeled and very functional. It is definitely worth your time to see one of the evening shows/activities or relax in the SkyBar hot tubs (on a weekday). The on-site restaurants were delicious and we highly recommend eating there instead of the buffet, although Vella was also quite good. The seafood, Asian cuisine, Italian cuisine, and sushi were all terrific and you should defintiely take advantage of the all-inclusiveness. All-day drink service at the beach and pools were un-matched. We also got massages at the spa and this trumped any massage I have ever gotten in the States. The hydrotherapy was also an excellent included feature that was very unique and helped relax before the massage. The greatest compliment to the property is the staff, though. Every employee was so friendly, accommodating, and fun to talk to. We'd like to give a special thanks to Juan at the beach, Jose at Cocomar, Christian at Sunan/La Luce, and Ciferno & Jacqueline at the indoor bars. If there was one negative about the property, it would be the location. Since the hotel is so far south of the city (about 25 minutes), it was inconvenient to do excursions, but there is nothing they can do to improve that part.
My husband and I come here often and we absolutely love it. We always upgrade to the enclave. Ana Was our server in their multiple days and she did an amazing job. Her drinks, Tentativeness, Positive attitude, And overall kindness always made us wanna go hang out in the Enclave lounge. We always enjoy our time there. We look forward to being back in August.. Thank you to the staff are always taking such good care of us
We had an amazing stay at the resort!
All of the staff were incredibly friendly. Even without paying for their cabanas, they did poolside service of food and drinks. Shout out to Mel, the server we had most days. He was really on the ball!
The buffets were great (but don't wait too long, as they were a little picked over if you went in the last hour). The restaurants needed to be booked one day in advance, which was very easy with the app.
We booked it through Costco about 8 weeks before we went, and it was more affordable than I would have thought. Highly recommended.
We stayed here in May with our family and had a bit of a mixed start to our trip. We initially booked the most basic room category, which turned out to be quite disappointing. The bedding felt old and scratchy, and the room itself was clearly dated. We were also placed on a lower floor, and it was very noisy, which made it especially difficult when our toddler was trying to nap.
The next day, we decided to pay for an upgrade to the next room category, and it made a huge difference. Honestly, it felt like a completely different hotel. The upgraded room was far more comfortable, and it really saved our trip.
From there, we ended up really enjoying our stay. The resort is very child-friendly, and we loved the beach area... calm, protected, and perfect for little ones. We also rented a cabana, which was def worth it. Our child especially loved the kids’ club area... I was happy they had a time where younger kids can go with parents since some kids clubs start at 4.
Another big plus was the location as we could easily Uber in and out, which gave us a nice mix of relaxing at the resort and exploring.
